Brain and Cognition Lab

Research Interests

Our lab investigates memory formation across the lifespan. Currently, our research is examining the contribution of individual differences in self-initiated learning strategies to individual differences in memory and the neural correlates of self-initiated learning strategies in younger and older adults. We also study the effects of Type 1 diabetes on cognition, brain structure, and brain activity patterns in children, adolescents, and young adults. Additional research interests include cognitive rehabilitation and the application of cognitive neuroscience research to education. These research areas are investigated using structural and functional neuroimaging techniques, neuropsychological tests, and cognitive assessments developed from cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience research.
