Background
I obtained my Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University in March 2008 and was then awarded with the Australia's Commercial Representatives' and Agents' Association Prize. I completed my PhD Economics (including Master of Research) programme at the School of Social Sciences, University of Manchester in October 2017, awarded along with the prestigious President's Doctoral Scholar (PDS) medal. I joined International Business School Suzhou, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (IBSS, XJTLU) as an Associate Professor in Economics beginning April 15, 2022. Previously, I was a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Economics with the Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University since April 2018, and used to be a Teaching Associate with the Lancaster University Management School. I served as the Associate Editor-in-chief of the journal, Economic Issues (ABS 1, ABDC - B), from January 20, 2020 to February 2, 2022, and is currently an Associate Editor with the journal.
Prior to my academic career, my professional experience include working spell with the Securities Commission of Malaysia and the research arm of Malaysia's sovereign wealth fund, Khazanah Nasional. During this period, I have contributed to the drafting of Malaysia’s second Capital Market Masterplan, the National Innovation Strategy, and its associated GLC Innovation Transformation Programme. I am also the co-author of the book, "Can Malaysia Achieve Innovation-led Growth?" published by Khazanah Nasional in 2013, and formerly a reviewer for the Economics topic in a SIDC Licensing Examination Module for capital market practitioners in Malaysia.
