Play Protocol

Kings Point Table Tennis Club Protocol

The Kings Point Table Tennis Club is a recreational table tennis group providing an environment to enjoy Ping Pong by all skill levels. The club is not a tournament club and therefore does not require close adherence to official table tennis rules. Every member or guest is given the opportunity to play, improve, and have fun.

In A Nut Shell:

When players are waiting, a player shall play no more than three consecutive games.

A Game:

A game is played to 21 points unless both score 20 then the game shall be won by a lead of 2 points.

When a number of players are waiting in turn, the game shall be played to 11.

A Match:

A match consists of three consecutive games regardless of winners. The winner is the player winning two or more games in the match.

Rotating In:

Singles –

When playing singles, the loser shall be replaced by the next challenger.

When multiple players are waiting, the table shall become a doubles table.

Doubles –

Players shall switch to a partner not previously played with at the end of each game so that at the end of the match, each player has played one game with every other player (unless otherwise agreed to by all players).

Doubles with waiting players –

A player may play three consecutive games before being replaced by a waiting player.

Skill Level:

All skill levels are welcome to play. Mixing skill levels in a match can be beneficial although may not be desirable for some.

Advanced players may choose to play with lower skill level players but should be respectful and not overpower the other players. This can help others improve their skill.

Lower skill level players are welcome to play with advanced players but should request to play and understand if the advance players would prefer to reserve the game for other advanced players.
