The exposure I had to different industry and academia shaped in me high curiosity towards:
Automation where possible;
Learn on the fly or life long learning;
Cloud and On-premises technologies and their mixture - hybrid technologies along with multi-clouds;
Data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence will be a prt of our every day life including any profession - we can not ignore that anymore - so brace it and learn it, apply it.
HPC Systems Engineer
The moment of the truth or the culmination of my career till now was uncovered with the start of HPC Systems Engeer position with Northeastern University. The reason for saying that lies in the fact that for years after graduation from my PhD which was based on numerical methods as my thesis subject and further involving 3D structure reconstruction, HPC, Image processing, computational fluid dyanmics (CFD) using PALABOS or Parallel Lattice Boltzman solver to solve the problem of fluid motion within irregular porous media. This specidic position now was the meeting point of everything I did.
Systems Administrator
While teaching at Ziyotek Institute of Technology at Virginia, there was this another opportunity to work for Boston College as a Migration Systems Administrator. Though the title was about migration, the nature of the job was not only migrating but also get involved in the other parts of the software life cycle which was touching nearly every other part or department. The connection to the other departments would include but not limited to DB team, security, Systems, Operations, Monitoring, Production while residing under the Systems Administration team.
DevOps Engineer
The journey to the world of automation in computer science had begun.with the switch into IT via DevOps role at Volt Active Data. Though it was not easy to start the position with the condition of wearing 3 hats in the fresh off the startup company, namely DevOps, Systems Administrator and Systems Engineer, it was well worth to make a switch as i was doing what I wanted to do aligning several backgrounds I had from the past plus discovering Google cloud platform (GCP) as an alternative to AWS - Amazon Web Services I was studied from the bootcamp where later on I also taught.
CMM Automation/Data Engineer:
CAD/CAE Engineer: ITEC & TTPU/PoliTo
Quality/Metrology Engineer: Toshafus
Next step in my career was a descovery of the world of coordinate measuring machines (CMM). It was initially enlightened thanks to my professor from Politecnico di Torino in 2011. Since then with Hexagon Metrology, I have been in lots of companies for training initially myself and then with updated knowledge, in-situ at factories to train their operators, to create part programs, solve the industrial problems on site and so forth.
During my voyage to the CMM world, there have been limitless activities I got involved in: be a syncronous translator (technical translator of English, Russian and Uzbek) following to the mastery at independent operation, train others at GM companies, introduce a DOE-CMM/Quality-Manufacturing process projects at TTPU, participate in a grant project at PoliTo in Italy.
Most importantly, while working for MRB Technimetals Inc., this job catapaulted my curiosity and further taking courses on DevOps, Data Science and Machine Learning.
Computer aided design (CAD) and engineering (CAE), or simulation/design/digital twin is one of the fields of importance for production and R&D centers to improve efficiency of manufacturing/production process, material and so on factors especially in industry. With my experience in AutoCad, SolidWorks, Pro-E, ANSYS, HYPERMESH like software packages, industrial area would apply and increase current state of the research available there.
On top of GM Uzbekistan, GM Power-train Uzbekistan, SamAuto, etc. experience in Uzbekistan I was a nomenee for ITEC Indian Fellowship Program to get the courses on PTC Creo and Ansys. Part of the expertise i obtained, we implemented them in TTPU. It was a replicated environment of several production and manufacturing processes as design-quality control-production-quality assurance in education to get it closer to reality for students during several of their courses and as an extra project.
This first one was actually the beginning of my professional work experience. Be it in inches or metrics sstandards, the idea here is always to chase the precision and accuracy of the manufactured producs. I had an opportunity to work in such industries as automotive, medical and aerospace industries as either quality or metrology engineer. It was my pleasure to also work with the academia both in teaching and research.
Often times the background of the the routines here comprise with one or combination of folowings: DOE, GD&T, R&R, SPC, MSA on top of the ISO standards such as ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 13485 and AS9100 to name a few.
The companies i had an opportunity to work with are: Toshafus (Uz), KAFUS (S.Korea), GMUz, GMPTUz, TTPU (Uz), PoliTo (It), Hexagon MI (It), MRB Technimetals (US), Enjet Aero (US).
- Before to my master's degree, I worked for Korean and Uzbekistan joint Company named TOSHAFUS (www.toshafus.uz) and with my chief were responsible for quality control of produced goods. The company was one of General Motors - Uzbekistan suppliers and the goods made there were fuel pump assembly for several General Motors vehicles.
Turin Polytechnic University (Politecnico di Torino - PoliTo) campus in Tashkent (TTPU)
- As a young designer, I also worked for 2 months in BMKB "Agromash" company and carried out a project on designing parts and assembly of cotton harvesting and agricultural machines prior to my master's.

- After graduation from PhD, I started working at Academic Department as a Methodologist and was also in charge of Internship works which involves activities related with industry. In spite of that, the duties of CMM Engineer were still in line with that academic career. Both of these jobs have mutual connections with industrial companies such as General Motors Uzbekistan, General Motors Powertrain Uzbekistan, Man Auto Uzbekistan, Sam Auto (Isuzu and Otoyol brands).
Admission Committee 2015
- At the same time with my PhD period, I was involved in Metrology Center of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent and dealt with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) supplied by Hexagon Metrology (www.hexagonmetrology.com.). The duties cover mainly precise measuring techniques. The preciseness of the machine reaches micrometer dimensions and after measuring a workpiece, the workpiece will not be affected by the tip of CMM.
