THE Wet Lab
The Tran-Ba Main Laboratory (in SC 5336):
Mainly used to prepare stock solutions of polymer, fluorescence probes, and other related chemicals in order to prepare samples for the experiments.
Lab is equipped with standard lab equipment (e.g. sonicator, vortex-mixer, etc.) and some speciality equipment (e.g. UV-Ozone cleaner, spin-coater, and vacuum oven).
Lab is also used to process and analyze some of the acquired fluorescence image data.
Polymer Processing Equipment
Our vacuum oven is routinely used to anneal the as-prepared polymer films.
Our home-made spin coater is routinely used for thin film preparation.
Our Optical MicroscopEs
Our home-built widefield fluorescence microscope (in SC 5326)
suitable for single-molecule imaging and single-particle tracking measurements (very essential for many projects)
equipped with multiple laser lines, various objective lenses (60 - 100x), and two sensitive EM-CCD and sCMOS cameras.
Our conventional brightfield microscope (in SC 5336):
suitable for conventional brightfield and fluorescence imaging
typically used for control experiments (e.g. quality control of microfluidic channels)
