I have two older brothers and two perpetually young parents. I grew up mostly in Big Flats, NY, near Corning; south of the Finger Lakes region.
I married Jewel (Buckwalter) Aagaard in August of 2009 in Western New York. We lived in Houghton, NY for 1 year while she finished up her bachelor's degree in vocal performance. We moved to Somerset, NJ in 2010 to start graduate school (me at Rutgers, Jewel at Westminster Choir College). We moved to La Crosse, WI in October of 2014 to become one with the cold.
In April of 2015, Jewel gave birth to Calvin John, while I stood around awkwardly. After two pleasant years, Jewel gave birth to Helen Rosemary in July of 2017, while I stood around with the confidence of a man who had been through this once before (which is to say, with very little confidence). We then moved to Fort Collins, CO in August of 2017 to become one with the sun.Â
To avoid offending grandparents, we migrated back east to Virginia in 2021. We've been enjoying it ever since.
