Blake Solomon

Head Coach

205-91 Career Record

Coach Solomon's first season as the Head Coach of the Kentwood Boys' Basketball program was the 2012-2013 season. Coach has since guided the Conquerors to a 205-91 record. Including 3 straight trips to the State Tournament from 2015-2017. The Conquerors finished the 2024 season with 22 wins and a return trip to the State Tournament where the team took 4th place in State. We also reached the WCD championship game. The Conquerors won the 2017 4A State Championship under Coach Solomon. In 2016 Kentwood placed 2nd in State as well as placing 6th in State in 2015. Kentwood has won 5 league titles as well as a West Central District Title in 2017 under Coach Solomon. Coach Solomon has been named Coach of the Year 4 times during his tenure. Coach has also been voted the PNBOA coach of the year in 2018 as well as the Kent School District coach of the year in 2017. Coach Solomon is a graduate of Kentwood High School where he lettered on the Boys' Basketball team all 3 years. During his time as a player, Kentwood went 77-11 while winning the 2004 State Championship, placing 2nd in State in 2005, and placing 3rd in State in 2003. Coach went on to play at Big Bend Community College where he earned all region both years. Coach finished his playing career at Northwest University where he received all league honors his senior season. Coach Solomon works in the PE department at Maple View Middle School and lives in Kent with his wife Liz , their two sons, Kasen and Jayce and their daughter Everette!

Coach Shep

JV Coach

Coach Shep began his coaching career during the 2020-2021 season! Coach Shep is a Kentwood Alumni who was apart of two state tournament teams. He was a starter on our 2017 State Championship team!  He also helped lead the Conks to two league titles as well a West Central District Title. He went on to play college basketball at Peninsula Community College! Coach Shep brings an enthusiasm and passion for both Kentwood and basketball. Our student-athletes are in good hands with Coach Shep helping guide them through their basketball journey while at Kentwood!

Coach Huerta

C Team Coach

Coach Huerta began his coaching career during the 2020-2021 season. Coach Huerta is a Kentwood Alumni who was apart of two state tournament teams. He was a starter on both our State Championship team in 2017 and our state runner up team in 2016. After graduating, Coach Huerta went on to play at Big Bend Community College where he was an all league performer. After finishing his two years at Big Bend, coach Huerta moved on to play at Alaska Fairbanks. Coach helped guide his team to the elite 8 his senior year.
