Annual Retreat Information

The 2020 Retreat will take place in March at location TBD!

What is the retreat?

The retreat is a weekend of crafting, movies, hiking (weather permitting), games, reading, swimming, drinking, cooking and eating, socializing, and basically having a ton of fun.

When is the retreat?

TBD for 2020

Where is the retreat?

TBD for 2020 but likely Michigan City, Indiana.

How do I get to the retreat?

If you don't have a car, someone can give you a ride. I'll share a Google doc with attendees where people can make driving arrangements.

I want to go but can't do both nights! Can I go for just one night?

Yes!

What is the cost?

TBD

How do I pay?

TBD

When do I pay?

TBD

What does the cost cover?

Lodging, food, some nonalcoholic drinks, and mimosas (see what should I bring below).

What should I bring?

Besides personal items, bring your crafts, books, movies, board or card games, swimsuit if you like the water, and a beverage to share, either a case of sparkling water or pop, a bottle or two of wine, six pack of nice beer, items to make a cocktail to share, whatever you like. I also will bring mimosa ingredients. Also please bring a snack--anything as basic as chips and dip or feel free to make something if you're so inclined. Towels and sheets are provided. You will also need to bring soaps and shampoo etc for the bath, as they don’t provide any toiletries.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

TBD

This sounds cool but I don't really know the other attendees….

New people attend every year! If this is your first year I promise you, you won't feel like the odd man out.

What's the deal with cooking arrangements?

Everyone signs up for one or two kitchen shifts (depending how many people we have), either cooking or cleaning. I post a Google doc for arranging the cooking schedule. We’re rolling the menu forward from the prior year, and the google scheduling sheet says what you’ll be cooking. Everything is very easy to customize for dietary restrictions, as all meals have vegetarian/gluten free/dairy free options.

What is this KAL?

The knitalong is where attendees vote on a pattern on the Facebook page to knit together at the retreat. It's completely optional. The pattern is bought using retreat funds and shared with all attendees.
