Kathryn E. Joyce
I am a doctoral candidate in the Philosophy Department at UC San Diego. I specialize in social and political philosophy and the philosophy of education. Within these areas I focus on egalitarianism and educational justice.
Additionally, I am interested in the history of political philosophy and feminist philosophy. My MA Thesis: "Adam Smith: A Relational Egalitarian Interpretation" (2013) concerns Smith's conception of equality.
I also work on projects that explore normative dimensions of public policy. My paper on educational justice and education policy ("Prioritizing Disadvantaged Students in Principle and in Practice") was recently a first place winner in an essay competition sponsored by the Center for Ethics & Education
