Gimp - page 3
Scripts for Gimp - and Why we use them ......for GIMP basics return to .... Page 1
OK now we know we are using the same version 2.6 and you can now use the Menu Options and they work Ok ....
Lets Move On .... I know you like these and they are very easy to do ....
Pastels
Ok so how do we get this effect ...... I have archived the file required here ......
But if you are using Windows you need something to unpack it .... so go here first ....
**** Windows use ****** Winrar - http://www.win-rar.com/download.html
( The Filesize of above is 1.9 Meg )

So now what do you have to do with this file .....
( First click on the file and save it your computer - preferably the Desktop - so you know exactly where it is )
Then double click it - if you have the correct archive software it will open a window .....
( to un-archive it ... in LINUX use - File Roller 2.26.1- for Gnome or any archive manager )
Setting this link directory in GIMP up is probably the hardest thing you will have to do -
then from here it is all easy ..........
_________________________________________________
This is now the instructions - to setting it up
in the MENU bar at the top of Gimp .... Click on .....

Edit (Preferences) ...... if you should need any in between steps to get it working .....
get on Stumbleupon and SU me ....... keithinfrance ............ Stumbleupon
here is my link for anybody that should use this tutorial
http://www.stumbleupon.com/stumbler/keithinfrance/
Click on the little black arrow next to folders ...... it opens the rest of the list up
It will point down instead of sideways once clicked .......
I will add a screenshot
with a finger here ....... Click on it once ......
to open a list of other folders below it .....
Something like this ......
Should look like this ...... so then click Scripts first ....
The Third one has been added - it is the location folder of the File you Downloaded and Unpacked / Unzipped ....
Click here ...... Where the finger points
( find your folder and select it ........ from your Desktop location )
On Windows it will be something like C: /Documents and Settings/ .......... /Desktop/Gimpscripts
If you should get stuck here ..... click on the
Gimpscripts folder and look at the properties of the file located on your Desktop
( It will be different - but only in the fact that yours is in
C:/Windows/Documents and Settings/(possibly your name here)/Desktop/Gimpscripts)
The address location will be there .......
Ok the hard bits over ...... close down Gimp
Restart it ...... it picks up the new scripts when it starts up ....... The menu bar at the top will look like this now .......
Now we can do pastels ..... to any photos we have ....
So lets get a photo to use .... this is one of mine and I give anybody the right to use it for this tutorial .......
First right click on the photo and save image as .......... bee2.jpg ..........
we then start with the destructions below this photo .....
The art in doing these is to choose a good photo for this effect to work well ......
Lols .... ;)
First of all when the picture downloads and appear on your Desktop .......
Select it and open ( bee2.jpg ) with Gimp ......
Simple as this ...... pick from the top menu ....... Script-Fu
( Then near to the bottom of the list that appears pick ..... )
Sketch - Pastel Sketch
as shown below
The result is - as shown below - but we can improve on this too .....
using Layers and the original photo ....
Layers are like clear plastic sheets with a picture on each one we can create some wonderful images
This is a bit like cooking ...... you need the right ingredients ,,,, and its less fun cooking than eating .... LOLS .... ;)
Ok also alter the darkness using colours and curves to get better results .......
Colours in the Menu at the top then pick curves .... you can drag the center of the curve for best results
How the scripts work ...... and some examples ..... this above was one of many .......
