About

Hi! This is Kemal Davaslioglu.

I'm a principal scientist at Nexcepta Inc., Gaithesburg MD, where I lead multiple SBIR/STTR projects on computer vision, RF and radar signal processing and anomaly detection. I also teach the Principle of Machine Learning class (MSML603) at the University of Maryland College Park, Science Academy as an invited lecturer.  Between 2017 and 2021, I worked a senior research scientist at Intelligent Automation Inc (IAI) where I was the Network Information Systems (NIS) technical area lead and developed several deep learning solutions for computer vision, cognitive radio, adversarial learning, and synthetic data generation. I received my Ph.D. in 2015 from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Irvine, where I was affiliated with the Center for Pervasive Communications and Computing (CPCC). I have held long-term internships at Broadcom, Irvine, CA, on the 10-Gigabit Ethernet systems and later on the 60 GHz system design, beamforming, and millimeter-wave channel characterization. In 2016, I was a postdoctoral scholar in the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL, where I was affiliated with the innovations in Wireless Information Networking Laboratory (iWINLAB). My research interest are on applying deep learning and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to telecommunications, radar, and computer vision, and the AI security. I have extensive hands-on experience with deep learning software, cognitive radio, and their hardware implementation. I was the recipient of the best paper award at the IEEE Symposium on Technologies for Homeland Security (HST) in 2018 and my work on green communications has been selected to the IEEE Best Readings. I'm a senior IEEE member.

I frequently review journal papers for the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine, IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Communications, IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing, IEEE Embedded Systems Letters and Elsevier Ad Hoc Networks. Also, I am serving or have served as the TPC member in the IEEE ICC 2022 Machine Learning for Communication (MLC) Symposium, IEEE ICC 2022 Cognitive Radio and AI-enabled Networks (CRAIN) Symposium, IEEE Globecom 2022 Machine Learning for Communication (MLC) Symposium, IEEE Globecom 2021 MLC Symposium, IEEE ICC 2021 MLC Symposium, IEEE Globecom 2020 Selected Areas in Communications (SAC) MLC Symposium, and Wireless Telecommunications Symposium (WTS) 2017.
