Our group utilizes advanced EPR spectroscopy such as ENDOR, ESEEM, HYSCORE, DEER and other multi-pulse techniques through multi-frequency (9/34/94 GHz) EPR. Advanced EPR lab at KBSI is one of the largest EPR lab in the far-east Asia. Our research focuses on elucidating 1) metal ion effects on neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s diseases and 2) working mechanisms of bio (metallo-enzymes) and bio-mimetic catalysts from molecular complexes to nanomaterials for C-H activation, water oxidation and other exciting catalytic reactions as seen in nature. In particular, our interest is placed an emphasis on structural studies of intermediates of catalytic cycles of bio-related catalysts. To investigate these intermediates, we employ many different physico-chemical techniques, for example, rapid freeze-quench, cryo-reduction and laser interfaced time-resolved EPR.
