The joint programme between the University of Southampton (UoS) and the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) is a long-standing international degree partnership approved by the Ministry of Education of China. Established in 2000, the programme represents one of the earliest and most stable UK–China collaborations in economics and finance, and provides a structured pathway for Chinese students to engage with UK higher education.
The programme is designed to prepare high-achieving students for academic exchange and degree progression in the UK by delivering Southampton-accredited curricula within SUFE. In 2022, the University of Southampton strengthened its academic presence within the programme by stationing its own academic staff at SUFE to deliver core modules directly. Since then, I have served as Line Manager for the Southampton academic team based at SUFE, with responsibility for coordinating academic delivery and supporting the effective operation of the programme.
My role as a line maneger:
Line management of the University of Southampton academic team based at SUFE, in accordance with Southampton’s academic and managerial frameworks
Coordination and oversight of teaching delivery across economics and finance modules, ensuring academic standards and curriculum alignment
Liaison between the University of Southampton and SUFE on academic, administrative, and operational matters
Support for quality assurance processes and the smooth delivery of Southampton-accredited provision overseas
Contribution to programme development and student transition arrangements, supporting progression from SUFE to the University of Southampton
Engagement with international partners and pathway structures, contributing to programme stability, visibility, and student recruitment
