Find the zip file in your Downloads folder, and double click it to uncompress it into a folder. Inside the folder you’ll find the various PDF files, the license, and the read me file. You’ll also find a file ending in .ttf which is the actual font file.
Double click the font file, which will bring up the application called Font Book on your Mac. Click the Install button.
After you install the font, you can select the My Fonts in the left sidebar to verify that the font has been installed.
When you open your text editor (TextEdit for example), you may not see Kauri Knits (or Kauri Knits Sans Borders) in the dropdown to change fonts from the menu bar. There’s one little trick to make it show up.
Hold down Command-T, or find “Show Fonts” in the menu bar. This will bring up the tiny Show Fonts floating window. Select “All Fonts” in the left column and find the Kauri knitting font you’ve installed and select it.
You can now type away in your new Kauri knitting font.
Some text editors will remember to keep Kauri available in the main font dropdown, but others (like Pages) need to be reminded on each new document.
