Research Interest

I am involved in synthesis and characterization of polycrystalline thermoelectric(TE) material and preparing TE device module. TE material are those which convert heat to electricity and vice versa. TE materials also belong to an intriguing class of material, Topological insulator. However, my research interest includes following two dimensions:

1.      Synthesis of p and n type TE material. I shall try to concentrate on both conventional [Bi2Te3, Bi2Se3 and (Bi1-xSbx)2Te3] and non conventional mid temperature TE material [viz., Half-Heusler Alloy, Sulfur based thermoelectric material viz., Cu12Sb4S13, Cu12-x(Zn,Fe)xSb4S13 and Skutterudite]. Our prime target is to enhance the efficiency of TE material along with study of rich physics of TE material.

2.      Preparation of thermoelectric device module using synthesized material. I am Building up laboratory with homemade instruments viz., resistivity, thermopower, specific heat, thermal conductivity etc. with automatic data acquisition. However, I am also interested to use cutting edge instruments in research. Further, we are trying to set-up instruments for direct measurement of TE efficiency of the prepared device.
