I’ve always had a keen sense of empathy, which led me to interdisciplinary studies. For me, it was personal to learn more of psychology, psychiatry, and sociology. I wish I had known all my life the concepts, theories, and techniques acquired through introductory courses in these fields. Additional classes, Interviewing and Counseling, Principles of Behavior Modification, and Pattern Alcoholism in Society, have been groundwork for teaching, counseling, helping.
My life experience gaining technological literacy provides insight towards adult learners and their needs. Formal learning in education classes and systems thinking has taught me to view the bigger picture to help others overcome life’s challenges. Given the time and materials, we can improve outcomes for any student interested in learning.
