I am assistant professor at the Department of Economics and International Relations, Faculdade de Ciências Econômicas (FCE), Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, Brazil) since March 2022.
My research focuses on economic history and the political economy of education in 20th century Brazil. I have also done some research on development ethics and the economics of education.
I hold a doctoral degree in Economics at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, 2019) and a master degree in Economics at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP, 2010). I was also a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS), School of Advanced Study (SAS) at the University of London (2018). Before joining UFRGS, I was tutor in economic history courses at the São Paulo School of Economics, Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV EESP) (2021), assistant professor at ESPM, Porto Alegre (2011-2021) and research analyst at Fundação de Economia e Estatística (FEE) (2011-2018).
As a lay member of the Igreja Evangélica de Confissão Luterana no Brasil (IECLB), I have been working with the World Council of Churches (WCC), an ecumenical fellowship of 350 churches (mostly mainline Protestant and Orthodox) based in Geneva, Switzerland. I was a member of the WCC Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA) from 2007 to 2013 and a member of the WCC Central Committee (a decision-making body) from 2013 to 2021.
My opinions do not reflect any of the organizations cited above.
