Research

My research interests are in algebraic, differential and arithmetic geometry. Specially the study of algebraic cycles using tools coming from arithmetic and differential geometry, e.g. \'etale monodormy, Hodge theory etc. In my doctoral dissertation I studied the nature of the kernel of the push-forward homomorphism induced by the closed embedding of a very general hyperplane section in an even dimensional smooth projective variety.  The main focus of my research is on   the rationality problem for algebraic varieties and the Bloch's conjecture on surfaces of general type with geometric genus equal to zero.  I study the rationality question for algebraic varities from a cycle theoretic point of view. That is how to detect the obstruction to rationality by studying the cycles on the given variety.
