March, 2011 – August, 2011: Research Internship at Orange Labs, (R&D division of France Telecom), Sophia Antipolis, France
Subject: Structured Peer-to-Peer TV Streaming
Supervisor: Dr. Patrick Brown, Senior Research Expert
Aim: Real time video streaming using Peer to Peer is becoming increasing popular but it suffers from the problem of noticeably large starting time & delays. The aim is to study and analyse structured peer to peer architecture already proposed at Orange labs. Further to develop a prototype that shows that real time video streaming could be practically implementable with minimum delay in spite of heavy churn (peer dynamics).
Platform: PlanetLab and Eclipse
Programming: C Language & Linux script
Operating System: Linux (Kubuntu distribution)
June, 2008 – August, 2010: Assistant Professor, Jaipur National University, Rajasthan, India
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering
Courses Taught: Wireless Communication, Digital Communication, Telecommunication Switching, Analog Communication
August, 2007 – April, 2008: Research Internship at Alcatel-Lucent Technologies, France
Subject: Multi-Objective Routing Optimization Algorithm
Supervisor: Mr. Jerome Brouet, Senior Manager
Aim: To study, implement, simulate and benchmark a new offline end-to-end routing algorithm for designing networks to be incorporated in a network design tool named SPIDER, which was under the process of development at Alcatel-Lucent
Details:
Technologies: MPLS, Fast Reroute, Graph Theory
Algorithm Studied: K - SPF (Shortest Path First), CSPF (Constraint-bases SPF), Simple Heuristic
Programming Language: JAVA & XML
Operating System: Windows XP and Ubuntu (Linux-based operating system)
Virtual Machine: VMware
Network Design Tool: TOTEM (Toolbox for Traffic Engineering Methods)
Aim: Studied, Memetic–Pareto Archive Evolution Strategy (M-PAES) which is a genetic algorithm used for optimization problems. This algorithm exploits the concepts of generation of Random Population, Mutation, Crossover Recombination, Offspring selection, Archive techniques etc. Found the feasibility of using this algorithm in networking domain and successfully implemented this algorithm in open source tool - TOTEM tool by coding in JAVA language. Finally bench-marked this algorithm as at least 70% time efficient then already existing algorithm. Prepared specifications to incorporate network resiliency in form of Fast Reroute.
