For over 20 years, N.J. Kailhofer worked for a small printing plant in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather before him at that same plant. He rose through the ranks to become Plant Manager. Tragically, the plant shut down in October 2009, a victim of the Great Recession, as some called the crash of the economy. After more than half a year of searching, he became a Production Coordinator for in Shawano, Wis. For the next five years, he would schedule and oversee their commercial newsprint, inserting, bindery, and distribution operations. From there, he moved to Print N Press in Waupaca, prepping files and making printing plates for newspapers.
He currently works at Amcor Graphics in New London, Wis., as a Graphics Technician.
He has a lovely wife and three wonderful, grown children. By night, he's an author who's been published scores of times in online magazines and has been a Writers of the Future semi-finalist. He spent 10 years at Aphelion Webzine, serving in various incarnations as the Short Story and Flash Fiction editor. Plus, he started and ran their monthly flash fiction writing challenges for many years. There are now over 700 challenge stories in the magazine's archives, and he's fairly proud of that.
