I live with my husband, Matthew, in Sacramento, Calif., where he works as a physician in the Emergency Department at UC Davis Medical Center and I work as a lecturer at UC Davis.
When I'm not working, I love baking and knitting. I have yet to find a recipe from here that wasn't amazing, and I taught myself to knit using the awesome videos here. Some of the projects I'm most proud of are a fancy throw I made for my parents' 40th anniversary, a cabled baby blanket for a dear friend, and a more detailed baby blanket I made for another dear friend. I also love to read. Jane Austen will always be my favorite author, by far. Outside of Austen, I love classics like Jane Eyre, The Count of Monte Cristo, and Crime and Punishment as well as books by Ken Follet, Stephen King, and Isabel Allende.
More than anything else, I love being with my husband. We're pretty nerdy together; we love spending our days off studying at the library or at coffee shops, and the "date nights" we both not-so-secretly look forward to most are spent at home playing board games with wine. But we occasionally have non-nerdy moments. We love exercising outdoors (especially running, biking, and hiking), and when we can, we seek out things like symphonies, museums, and sporting events (go Giants! go Kings! go Niners!). We also both love to cook, and we really enjoy hosting friends and family for dinner.
