SDR-IQ as 2nd receiver of Kenwood TS-2000 using SDR-Radio software.

On October 4th, 2011, I made a direct connection via serial cable from the data port of the TS-2000 and the serial port of my old eMachine computer model 3107; AMD Sempron Processor 3100+; 1.81GHz; and 1.37GHz Ram. After installing SDR-Radio ver1.4 build 960, I assigned Comm1 for communications with the External Radio.

It connected on the first try and has stayed connected without failure. Just finished my QSO on 1.865MHz LSB with 1KW, receiving with the SDR-IQ,  and transmitting with the Kenwood, both in sych and controlled from SDR-Radio Console. There is, however a "tail echo" remaining for a fraction of a second each time I release the PTT.  KD9SV's  Front End Saver is doing the job of Keying the amps and of blocking the RF from reaching the receiver, each time I press the PTT.

Obviously, there are problems when you must use a USB/serial adapter to connect to a computer without a serial port, running Win 7 64bits. I was not able to achieve this connection with my more modern computer.

IN the meantime, it is running..., and I will remain vigilant to what the developers do after October 10. I still would prefer to run it on the larger, newer computer.

Thanks  to the developers and for all your support. Will keep you posted as my experiments progresses.
