- Assoc Prof. Jian Xu

Dr. Jian Xu received his B. S. degree in Physics at Nanjing University, China; he received the M. S., M. Phil., Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering at Yale University. Now he conducts interdisciplinary research on medical instrumentation for image-guided cancer surgery and design of biomimetic eco-friendly energy transducers with natural nanoconductors. Dr. Jian Xu received the prestigious NSF CAREER Award in 2021. His research was highlighted as an OUTLOOK report "Optics shine a light on dental imaging" in Nature (2021) .

Postdocs

- Dr. Ye Wu.

Dr. Ye Wu received his Ph.D. (2016) from the UT San Antonio. He started to work as a postdoc at Louisiana State Univ. from April-1-2017. He has been involved in carbon/SiC foam materials fabrications and applications. Currently, he is responsible for triboelectric generator design as well as nanoparticles synthesis.

Graduate students

- Zhongqiang Li

Mr. Zhongqiang Li was born in China in 1986. Currently, he is a PhD student in the Division of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Louisiana State University, USA. He received the B.E degree in Biomedical Engineering from Nanjing Medical University in 2007. From 2014 to 2016, he worked as the research follow in the high-tech company-SensoVann AS and University College of Southeast Norway, Norway. During this period, he was involved into 1 Forprosjekt i INNOMED project, 1 EU Horizon 2020 SME project, and so on. In 2016, he was the senior technical engineer of EEG and NIRS in Advictor Beijing Information Technology, Beijing, China. His research interests are Biomedical Engineering, Bioelectronics, Bio-signal detecting and processing, and BioMEMS.

- Yoshita V Holamoge

Ms. Yoshita V Holamoge got her Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, India (2016). She is currently working on a project at LSU to extract, detect and classify pedestrians and cyclist from video data using image processing techniques. Also, area of research is synthesizing biopolymer foam to generate triboelectricity. Other areas of interest are PLC programming as well as biomedical instrumentation.

- Mr. Thomas Hartzler

Thomas Hartzler was born in Biloxi, MS and raised in Stockton, CA. He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University and is pursuing a M.S. in Electrical Engineering at Louisiana State University. Thomas has industrial experience in programmable logic controls and relay controls. Thomas enjoys fiction literature, exercise with the LSU rowing club, and board games in his free time.

- Zheng Li

Mr. Zheng Li is a graduate student who pursing his Ph.D. degree in the Division of Electrical and Computer Science Engineering at Louisiana State University, USA. He received his B.E.,M.S. degree both at TaiYuan University of Technology, China, majoring in bioengineering(2013) and biomedical engineering(2016). Currently, he works on bioelectronics and cancer imaging.

Md Azmot Ullah Khan

Mr. Khan has completed B.Sc. degree from Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in Bangladesh. He is currently a graduate student pursuing Ph.D. degree at the Louisiana State University (LSU) from January, 2019. Prior to joining LSU, he worked both in industry and academia. His current research involves simulation and fabrication of nanoscale solar cell utilizing efficient light trapping mechanism. He also worked on implementation of TMDC (MoS2) material in Nano-electronic device.

Naheem Olakunle Adesina

Mr. Naheem Olakunle Adesina is currently pursuing his Ph.D degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, U.S.A. He received his B. Tech degree from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria and M.Sc. degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Naheem is a Student Member of IEEE and has won academic awards and scholarship. His research interests focus on memristive devices, analog and mixed signal VLSI design, 2-D materials, signal and information processing.

Huaizhi Wang

Mr. Huaizhi Wang was born in China in 1996. He received the B.S., and M.S., degrees in Biotechnology from Qingdao University, China in 2018 and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA in 2021. Now he is a Ph.D. student in the Division of Electrical and Computer Science Engineering at Louisiana State University, USA. He works on dental imaging now.

Fozia Rajbdad

Ms. Fozia Rajbdad has completed B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from COMSATS University Islamabad, Pakistan. She did Masters in Biomedical Engineering from Kyung Hee University South Korea. She is currently a student pursuing Ph.D. degree at the Louisiana State University (LSU) since January, 2021. Prior to joining LSU, she worked in academia. Her research involves recognition of patterns from Electroencephalograph (EEG) brain signals which represents change in pressure and visual stimuli applied on human body.

Murtaza Aslam

Mr. Murtaza Aslam has completed B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from COMSATS University Islamabad, Pakistan. He did Masters in Computer engineering from Hanyang University South Korea. He is currently a Ph.D. student at the Louisiana State University (LSU) since January 2018. He worked in academia before joining LSU. His research interests are Bio-Medical Signal Processing, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, and Image Processing.

Erteza T Efaz

Efaz was born on 20th September in Chattogram and raised at the residence in Barishal, Bangladesh. After completing his Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh; he dedicated himself to the improvement of photovoltaics, robotics, and bio-electronics. Currently, he is pursuing a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering at Louisiana State University, LA, USA; with an interest to explore programmable biomedical devices. Except for research, he has a special penchant for fitness, swimming, mountaineering, parachuting, and challenge courses.

Pedram Hosseinzadehnamadi

Pedram earned his master's degree in biomedical engineering in 2019. He joined LSU as a doctoral student in the electrical and computer engineering department in 2021. He is working on interdisciplinary projects with Aquatic Germplasm and Genetic Resources Center (AGGRC) to develop sensors to monitor the physical status of the solutions used in the cryopreservation process. Cryopreservation condition plays a crucial role in this process's efficiency. Pedram tries to design and fabricate sensors with printing methods to monitor this process for quality control.

Dinkar Regmi

I earned my B.S. degree in electrical engineering from McNeese State University at Lake Charles, LA. I then joined the IT industry and worked there for a few years in the healthcare domain. Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at LSU. My research interests are biomedical devices, bioelectronics, biosensors, BioMEMS, electrospinning, and machine learning.

Sreekrishna Ramakrishnapillai

Sreekrishna Ramakrishnapillai received his M.Sc.[Eng.] in Signal Processing and Communication Technologies from MSR School of Advanced Studies, India (Coventry, UK.). He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. (Division of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Louisiana State University, USA) while being a graduate research assistant at Brain and Metabolism Imaging in Chronic Disease (BAMIC) Lab at Pennington Biomedical Research Center (co-supervised by Dr. Owen Carmichael). His research is focused on understanding and applying machine learning methods for analyzing neuroimaging data. Other research interests include developing computer vision and signal processing methods using Python and Matlab.

Ya Zhang

Ms. Ya Zhang was born in China in 1995 and graduated from Shenyang Medical College with a Bachelor of Medicine degree in Anesthesiology. After graduation from Shenyang Medical College, she did her internship at a Village Health Clinic from 2018 to 2019. Then decided to change her specialty to a biology-related field to continue her education. She received her master's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a concentration in biotechnology. After graduating from UAB, she worked as an associate biologist at Southern Research. She is now a PhD student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Louisiana State University, focusing on periodontal imaging.

Seyedmajid Hosseini

Majid was born in Tehran, Iran, and obtained an MSc degree in micro and nano electromechanical systems from the University of Tehran in 2021. He has been pursuing a Ph.D. in the electrical and computer engineering department since Aug 2022. In May 2023, he joined Aquatic Germplasm and Genetic Resources Center (AGGRC) to conduct research with a focus on biosensors and microfluidics.

Mohsen Norouzi

Mohsen, born in Isfahan, Iran, obtained his master's in biomedical engineering (Tissue Engineering) in 2018. He collaborated in several research projects in tissue engineering at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences and worked in the hospital and healthcare centers for several years. Upon joining LSU in August 2022, he obtained an M.S. in Electrical Engineering, focusing on a bioreactor tailored for the expansion of mammalian cells. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at LSU, Mohsen collaborates with the Aquatic Germplasm and Genetic Resources Center (AGGRC) on pioneering research in developing microfluidics, biosensors, and cell culture platforms. His research interests encompass micro- and nano-structured biomedical devices, biosensors, microfluidic devices, BioMEMS, bioreactors, and tissue engineering.

Tiantong “Thomas” Zhang

Tiantong “Thomas” Zhang is a graduate student in X Lab. He has experience in research focused on MRI-based treatment outcome assessment and preclinical studies of radiation-induced immune responses using experimental animal models. He is especially interested in quantitative MRI signal reconstruction and its applications in characterizing tumor microenvironment changes after radiation therapy. His work combines imaging physics, radiobiology, and translational cancer research to better understand therapeutic effectiveness and to help develop future imaging biomarkers for treatment response.

Undergraduate students

Julian Johnson

I am currently an undergraduate at LSU in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. Alongside that, I passed my Fundamentals of Engineering exam in Fall 2022 and await graduation for Engineering Intern Licensure. Currently, I look to further aid the AGGRC in cryopreservation research, specialize further in bioelectronics, and grow my current skills in digital circuit design and programming. I also am heavily involved in AI selection and implementation for object detection in my senior design project, the All-Terrain Drone.

Ms. Jenni Encarnacion

Ms. Jenni Encarnacion is pursuing a biological and agricultural engineering degree. She has past experience with cell processing; she is interested in learning more about bioinstrumentation. Her career goals are to work in R&D with medical devices.

Mr. Jacob T Miller

Mr. Jacob Miller is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at LSU. He has previous experience with the physics department developing scientific balloon payloads to detect gamma rays from lightning strikes in thunderstorms, and he is currently interested in exploring the biomedical applications of electrical engineering.

Ms. Katherine Perez

Ms. Katherine Perez was born in Baton Rouge, LA and is a student at Baton Rouge Community College. She is transferring to Louisiana State University in the fall of 2020 pursuing a BS in Computer Science. Her interest includes machine learning, AI, and software development.

Mr. Daniel Vides

Mr. Daniel Vides is a freshman at LSU pursuing a B.S in computer engineering. He is from Prairieville, Louisiana. His research interests include machine learning and robotics.

Stephen Adjei

Stephen Adjei is a graduate from University Laboratory School and is currently pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science at Dartmouth College. He currently works as a research assistant in the Geisel Jacobson Lab at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire on time series seasonal forecasting and analysis. Stephen is an experienced Web-app Developer with a demonstrated history of front-back-end development and UI/UX Design. He is also a skilled network technician, with a CompTIA Network+ Certification and 4+ months of experience. His research interests include AI imaging and time series analysis.

Danny Lu

Danny Lu was born in New York. He is a sophomore pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Robotics to work in Research and Development.

Jacob Parent

My name is Jacob Parent; I was born is Gonzales, Louisiana. I am currently studying for my bachelor's in electrical engineering with a minor in computer science at Louisiana State University. I have experience with many programming languages, but I plan to specialize in circuit design, and more specifically, microprocessor design. I hope to do hybrid analog/digital microprocessor R&D for AI systems with my future career. I enjoy playing and listening to jazz, film photography, video game design, and collecting old technology.

Donovan Brown

Donovan Brown was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science at LSU with plans to pursue a master's degree in cybersecurity in the future. He is set to graduate in Spring 2025 and has interest in researching artificial intelligence and cryptography.

Darryl Harris

My name is Darryl Harris. I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and I’m currently a student at Baton Rouge Community College pursuing an AS in Computer Science. I’m also transferring to Louisiana State University to pursue a BS in Computer Science (Software Engineering Conc.), and I plan to further my studies after graduation. Coding has been my passion since I started coding robots as a kid in middle school and coding computers in high school. Coding will be a major part of my career.
