John Muir Trail

The John Muir Trail runs from Mt. Whitney in the south to Yosemite in the north, passing through some of the most gorgeous terrain in California. Lon and I planned an 10 day trip going south to north, covering about 218 miles with one rest day and a short last day. We went pretty fast, averaging over 20 miles a day (although compared to some of Lon's friends who did it in 6 days we were dilly-dalliers), but not especially light (compared to our friend Dan who knows his gear weights to the ounce).
