Abstract: In my thesis, we investigate remarkable phenomena in nonlinear systems associated with intrinsically non-linear heterogeneities, motivated by real-world situations. We study the nonlinear dynamics in parametrically driven systems and its applications in the context of hydrodynamics and magnetic materials. Using the normal form method, we derive the evolution equation governing the nonlinear saturation of localised Faraday patterns induced by a Gaussian-like parametric injection. In magnetic strips with a localised perforation, the trapping of domain walls (line solitons) is investigated using the parametrical sine-Gordon model. In the quasi-reversible limit of this equation, we report the formation of sine-Gordon soliton bubbles and drops due to local internal mode instabilities for a given family of heterogeneous external forces. Theoretical findings are in good agreement with numerical simulations and experiments. Interpretations and possible applications of the observed phenomena in the context of hydrodynamic instabilities, nanoscience, cosmological models of the Universe and biophysics are given. From the results of this thesis, we have published 3 scientific articles in WoS journals (Q1) and 1 conference proceeding indexed in Scopus.

Abstract: In this thesis, we show that the hyperbolic wave equation with random-field generators on the phase velocity models the propagation of acoustic waves in one-dimensional heterogeneous media. The problem is studied numerically. Phenomena like Anderson localisation and stochastic acceleration in randomly evolving media are observed. We report some numerical inconsistencies in the source representation used in previous works. This thesis was approved with maximum qualification.
