My name is Michael, but I write under the pen name JT. I'm a Canadian fiction writer working in a variety of genres: commercial; children and young adult; inspirational (Catholic); art-themed; paranormal; romance and love stories. I ply my craft in short story, novella and novel-length works.
Pre-pandemic, I worked part time as one of the caretakers at our church. Now, I work on my house, getting it ready for the eventual downsizing and sale.
For fun I read, I cycle, and I attempt various watercolor techniques. Some of my favorite authors include: Douglas Coupland, Chris Bohjalian, Jonathan Franzen, John Irving, Ellen Hopkins, William Styron, William Gibson, Neil Stephenson, DBC Pierre, and Anita Shreve. John Banville has also moved up my favorites list!
In the summer, besides cycling on the Greater Niagara Circle Route, I follow (online) the Giro D'Italia, the Tour de France, and the Vuelta a Espana bike races. My favorite cyclists include Canadians Derek Gee and Hugo Houle. I also follow NFL football (Back to the Buffalo Bills!) and numerous teams in NCAA football (THE Ohio State University, Alabama Red Tide, Georgia Bulldogs). My favorite conference is the SEC. Sorry CFL, I don't enjoy Canadian football and those kooky three-down rules.
I somehow squeeze all these interests into my busy life and still manage to be a terrific husband, father and grandfather (my words, not theirs).
