The Jon Sims Endowment Fund

The Jon Sims Endowment Fund for the Performing Arts (JSEF) provides financial support for LGBT performing arts organizations.

Jon Sims began the gay performing arts movement when he formed a gay marching and concert band in San Francisco in 1978. To carry on his dream, the JSEF attracts donations and bequests, invests the contributions, and distributes grants to qualified groups. Since its formation, the JSEF has distributed over $128,000 in grants while increasing the fund's principal. In addition, $22,000 has been awarded in matching funds just in 2015.

With your assistance, the JSEF can grow its endowment fund and provide more financial support for our performing arts family.

"The Jon Sims Endowment Fund provided invaluable funding support for the 10th Anniversary Concert of the Desert Winds Freedom Band of Palm Springs (CA). This support allowed us to commission an amazing work called "Journey" by noted composer Charlie Creasy and it was debuted to great success on March 26, 2011.

In addition to this grant, the Desert Winds Freedom
Band has now set up its own endowment account at JSEF and we hope to be making regular contributions to it. In this way, we can count on the JSEF to help us preserve the future of our Band forever."

- Gary Moline, Founder, Desert Winds Freedom Band
