IPv6
What is IPv6? The latest Internet Protocol (version 6) that usually is ran in parallel to the classic standard called IPv4.
Why it matters to end users
If ignored could have security issues like shadow networks & bypassed firewalls
Adds ability to access IPv6-only services
Performance might be different enough to be noticeable
Often could be using different routes across the Internet to access information changing latency & speeds
Packets are larger but processed more efficiently
What extra info I have to share
Most popular modern Operating Systems have reasonably updated support information except Windows XP so steps provided on how to get it working properly
Older versions of Windows that support IPv6 do not have the latest recommended order for preferring address types by default. I have a page about easy ways to verify & get them updated
