Dyslexia Therapy Testimonial:

To whom it may concern:

For two years, my teenage daughter had the good fortune of receiving tutoring from Jillian Jeffries.  I recommend her highly.  

Following an evaluation at a regional dyslexia center at age 13, it became clear that my daughter would benefit from intensive structured literacy tutoring, and the center recommended virtual tutoring with Jillian.  

From the beginning, Jillian put my daughter at ease.  This was a unique gift, especially with an older student who had been through tutoring before.  Jillian was able to establish a good rapport quickly.  My daughter’s previous tutors seemed to put her on the defensive, but Jillian helped her to engage.  Jillian assumed that my daughter was smart and capable; this assumption was tremendously helpful to my teenage daughter. My daughter said this: “I was nervous about starting tutoring again, but Mrs. Jeffries helped me relax so I could focus.  Through the sessions, I made progress which gave me confidence to keep trying.”

Jillian exhibited a unique ability to help the struggling student engage and re-engage in the hard work necessary to overcome the struggles associated with dyslexia.  My daughter said “Mrs. Jeffries is very sympathetic about the things that you struggle with.  Though the tutoring was hard work, she made it simpler and was very encouraging.“

After two years with Jillian, my daughter demonstrated significant progress in literacy markers, especially in spelling and reading ability.  While she did not complete the entire therapy program, when my daughter received comprehensive testing, her reading and comprehension were at grade level, despite her continued reading speed impairment.  Furthermore, her positive experience with Jillian seems to have empowered her towards continuing to work through the challenges associated with dyslexia.
