English Cockers Rock My World and Rule My House
First I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit. I assure you I am a much better breeder and care giver of this breed than a web master.
A member in good standing with the Canadian Kennel Club since 1986 and a life member. A proud member of the English Cocker Spaniel Club of Canada.
My husband and I have shared our home with many English Cocker Spaniels over the years and each one of them has brought something special into our lives. We started when we lived in Mount Hope, now part of Greater Hamilton, Ontario, Canada but four years ago moved to our present location here in Clayton, Ontario, Canada which is near Ottawa.
Since our first came into our lives in 1981 as a companion we have had many years of love and devotion from them. For 20 of those years we have been showing in the confirmation ring and breeding for the future. During all this time we have grown to appreciate this wonderful breed more and more. They are loving companions and members of the sporting group making them full of curiosity and energy. Someone once said that they are the flower children of the dog world. English Cocker Spaniels are a medium sized dog that measure 17 in. for the males and 15 in. for the females. Remember that you measure a dog from the ground to the shoulders only. There weight would be from 24 to 30 lbs. They are attractive when groomed properly to show off their lovely balanced structure and do require combing out as they are a coated breed. Usually this can be achieved by ten or so minutes daily and a good grooming from a groomer about once every two or so months.
There are many sites out there that do a very good job describing the standards and virtues of the English Cocker Spaniel and I would suggest that you check out the CKC site for more information or go to the English Cocker Spaniel Club of Canada site for even more information.
Our dogs have always shared every aspect of our lives. They live with us, go on vacation and camping with us, share in family occasions and everything that happens along the way.
We do not have a large number of dogs and just had to say goodbye to Ransom, the dog featured above. He crossed the rainbow bridge on April 6th 2021 and will be in our hearts forever. We also had to say goodbye to Trick. The sweets girl we ever owned. It broke our heart. So right now I we only have the two girls as of June 2021
Joyousgarde's Say G'night Gracie (7)
Joyousgarde's Isabella. (3)
At the present time the only female that is in our breeding program is Isabella.
Shown here with her son Sheldon who was born Dec 5th 2021
It is our hope that we will again breed Izzy to the same sire that produced this lovely boy. With the restrictions due to Covid 19 our plans will be determined by our ability to travel and when she comes into season.
Joyousgarde's Isabella has gone on to produce two nice litters of pups. One in 2022 and just now on July 25th. We now have 8 lovely puppies. To the delight of many who have waited so long. All are spoken for and have great homes to go to.
This site is under construction so please be patient. I am working on it.
