I am a marine environmental scientist with over two decades of experience working in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, focusing on marine ecology, environmental assessment, and sustainability. Over the course of my career, I have been involved in more than 200 environmental assessment and monitoring projects, contributing to the understanding and management of marine ecosystems in Saudi Arabia.
My work has combined science, leadership, and practical application. At the Center for Environment and Marine Studies (KFUPM), I led the Marine Group and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Group, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring young scientists, and supporting projects from design through implementation. I have always been particularly interested in translating scientific knowledge into meaningful environmental solutions aligned with national priorities and international standards.
My research interests include benthic ecology, biodiversity assessment, coral reefs, seagrass ecosystems, and, more recently, the application of environmental DNA (eDNA) and epigenetics in marine studies. I have contributed to a wide range of scientific studies, publications, and collaborative projects, including research on deep-sea ecosystems in the Red Sea.
Beyond research, I am actively engaged in the scientific community through peer review, academic mentoring, and participation in international conferences. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to receive recognition for both research excellence and project leadership, but I value most the opportunity to contribute to sustainable environmental management and the development of future scientists.
After more than 23 years at KFUPM, I have been serving at the National Center for Wildlife, under the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Riyadh since April 2026, where I continue to contribute to the Kingdom’s environmental and conservation initiatives.
