We have a website!

This website will serve as a hub for JOH communication as well as a resource for community members and the general public. Please let us know how you think we should use the site!

Currently the site is "live" but not included in search results (Googling won't get you here!) pending JOH's approval as a group.

We will be rolling out new features in the near future / as deemed useful. Here are some of the things having a JOH google account can allow us to do, if we so choose:

-maintain this public website, with group information, picture slideshows, a link to a calendar, file hosting (for example, if we wanted to make a flier available to everyone to print & post around town, we could do that from this website), and a resource center for community members (linking to NAMI, providers in the area, suicide hotline, warmline, general mental illness info, etc)

-create a "group" page. Parts of this page could be available to the public (for example, if we wanted to have an "ask JOH" discussion board that is linked to from the "Resource Center" page). Most of this page, though, would be viewable only by invited JOH members and would allow us a place to securely post group contact info and calendars, hold private discussions, and plan events while avoiding flurries of email

-have a central email address to simplify group-wide correspondence as well as have an easy way for community members to contact the group

-use Google documents (an online version of Word/ Excel/ Powerpoint/ etc) to easily share documents and collaborate on them (multiple authors can edit one central document, rather than emailing it back and forth)

-use PicasaWeb to host full-resolution photos from group events. These photos can then be used on the webpage, or viewed and downloaded. Access can be restricted differently for each "album" of photos to 1) only certain invited people, 2) anyone who is given a special access code, 3) anyone who knows JOH's picasa address, or 4) everyone & searchable by google.

-use Google Voice to ensure that people will always have access to JOH members without giving out everyone's contact info

No worries, it's much easier than it all sounds once it's set up - promise!
