Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, USA, June 2014.
I am a Senior geology and geochemistry consultant, with 34 years of experience, working actively on geologic hydrogen and helium, diagenesis (carbonates, siliciclastics, volcanics), crustal fluids, CCUS and CO2 mineralization, and ore deposits.
During the last years I've been mostly focused to study the pre-salt microbial carbonates offshore Brazil and Angola, and their possible analogs worldwide.
I have broad experience in the study of ore deposits (MVT, SEDEX, VMS, IOCG, Skarns, Hg-Sb, Cr-PGE) and geofluids (oil, gas, brines), including paleofluid PVTx reconstruction (compressional and extensional settings); geothermal systems; and origin an occurrence of native hydrogen and helium.
I obtained my Ph.D. in 1994 at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB, Spain). My working experience include Senior Consultant at Repsol Exploration (Madrid, Spain); Research Scientist at Instituto de Geología / Centro de Geociencias (UNAM, México); Invited Professor at Université Henry Poincaré (now Université de Lorraine, Nancy, France); Research Fellow at the School of Earth and Environment (Leeds University, UK) and Assistant Professor at the University of Barcelona (Spain).
Gemix-Earth is our new brand. An attempt to open a new chapter in my professional life as an independent consultant in energy (petroleum systems, native hydrogen, CO2 sequestration, geothermic), geochemistry and ore deposits, also introducing two new aspects after my personal interests: systematic mineralogy (professional and highly specialized mineral collecting), and numismatics (coins and medals from Catalano-Aragonese Kingdoms).
Welcome to my professional geology page. Please, feel free to browse through it.
