About me: I am a linguist currently finishing up as a PhD candidate at UMass Amherst. My research interests, which lie mainly within formal semantics and pragmatics, include embedded implicature, disjunction, modals, conditionals, inquisitive semantics, and Bantu languages.
As a linguist, my main interests concern phenomena where the contributions of the pragmatics and compositional semantics require teasing apart. These phenomena are interesting to me because they are the crucial test cases for our general understanding of how social cognition and grammar conspire to create linguistic meaning. And that to me is one of the great joys of research— using empirical puzzles to inform bigger picture questions.
