The birds of Washington DC

With renovations happening this summer to our molecular labs at UH Hilo, I've been very fortunate to have the opportunity to spend a month in DC visiting Dr. Robert Fleischer's lab at the Smithsonian. We've been working on a project examining genomic diversity in museum and modern samples of ‘alalā (Hawaiian crow; Corvus hawaiiensis). I'm also here for the North American Ornithological Conference, happening 16-20 August, where I will be speaking about the role of genomics in ‘alalā conservation.
