2014 Guinness World Book Record - Most Tribute Rosies

March 29, 2014 - A new world record - Most Tribute Rosies!

We spread the word of what we wanted to do, but would they come?  2:00 PM arrived, we peeked out the hangar doors, and saw

Rosies lined up all the way out the parking lot!

Friends old and new gathered to Save the Bomber Plant.  Betty and Lenore are two original Rosies who met while working in

Detroit area factories during the war.  They are still fast friends 70 years later.

We had more than just Tribute Rosies... we had 19 Original Rosies in our group.  Everyone enjoyed having a professional up-do.

A rising tide of red and white polkadots indicated the time to set the record was getting close.

Everyone young and old gathered, from 3 months to nearly a century.

The Pledge of Allegiance and the beautifully sung Star Spangled Banner reminded us of all the planes that were build in this plant.

The B-24 retains the record even now for being the most produced heavy bomber in history, totaling over 18,400 planes.  More

than half of all B-24's manufactured came from the bay doors just yards from where we were standing, faster than one per hour.

More than 8,600 B-24 Liberators lifted off from the Willow Run Airport.  Many of them never returned.  Less than a dozen survive

today.

778 Rosies who met the stringent Guinness requirements for setting a World Record settled together in the staging area while

the time keepers carefully tracked our progress.  The time went quickly, filled with song and a happy cheer when we reached

our goal.

The 19 Original Rosies gathered one more time after the event for a photo opportunity, and to remind us all of the importance

of passing the legacy of the Greatest Generation to our descendants.   Yes, We Can Do It Again!  Save The Bomber Plant!
