Johra Muhammad Moosa holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Waterloo, under the supervision of Prof. Bin Ma, and a master’s and bachelor’s from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Currently a postdoctoral researcher at Public Health Ontario (PHO), Johra has made impactful contributions to machine learning in bioinformatics and public health. Her research has been published in high-impact journals, with significant citations highlighting the influence of her work.
Johra's research interests include broader machine learning applications, such as time-series forecasting and predictive modeling in real-world problems. She has experience with various machine learning techniques, including data interpretation, processing, feature engineering, modeling, training, validation, and optimization.
Previously, she served as a faculty member at BUET for over five years and has actively contributed to the academic community through conference organization and leadership roles. Her work has earned her several prestigious accolades, including the Go-Bell Scholarship, the Provost Doctoral Entrance Award for Women, and multiple merit scholarships.
