This page contains fixes for annoying things that creep into life and solutions which are hard to find. I'm no expert, these are just things that bugged me until I could solve them or handy aids to make life easier. Hopefully, this should get updated whenever I get a chance.
Annoying Computer issues and the fixes that I found.
Have you ever tried to put HSA (as in health saving account) into a Word document, Excel spreadsheet or Outlook email only to have the program change it to has. Then maybe you tried to do an 'Add to Dictionary' only to find that the command isn't there. Well here is the solution for Office version 10 programs. This may work on other versions, but I haven't tried it.
At the top of the page, click on the FILE tab. Go down the list to Options. Next, click on the 'Proofing' page and click on 'Auto correct Options'. Where it says replace: type in HSA. The lower list will show you what it wants to change it to. If this is not correct (i.e. 'has'), then go to the place that says with: and type in 'HSA'. Click okay, and then okay again for the previous window and you are done. It seems for version 10 doing it once fixes it for all programs, but if not the process is the same for all programs. Hope it helps.
Subtracting numbers without the "normal" way of using the carry and borrow nonsense. Using this method all you need to is add numbers.
Here is an example. Take 569 minus 172. Start by adding to 172. Add 8 to get 180, then add 20 to get to 200. Add 300 to get to 500. And finally add 69 to get to 569. The answer is the sum of the original number 172, plus the numbers that you added... 172+8+20+300+69 or 569. I find this much faster.
