Open PhD Student Positions in Communication Systems with Fiber-Optical Applications

Two PhD student positions are currently open in the Communication Systems Group, Department of Signals and Systems, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.

 
Last date to apply is Jan. 31, 2013.

Best Paper Award

Our paper titled “Designing power-efficient modulation formats for noncoherent optical systems got the best paper award at GLOBECOM 2011 in Houston-Texas. GLOBECOM is one of the largest international conferences on communication and only 14 out of 1070 papers were selected for this award.

Optium on "Elektronik Tidningen"

It seems Optium and Zipper are attracting the Swedish media. Elektronik Tidningen has written an article about Chalmers Innovation and the two projects Optium and Zipper in its incubator.

I will have my licentiate seminar titled "Modulation Optimization for Noncoherent Optical Systems" on the 27th of September, 2011 @13.00.
The Location is EL-43, Hörsalsvägen 11, Department of Signals and Systems, Chalmers University of Technology.

The Discussion leader is Prof. Dr. sc. techn. Gerhard Kramer, Head of the Institute for Communications Engineering, at the Technical University of Munich, Germany.

On April 18, 2011, I gave a talk at Bell Labs, New Jersey, titled "Optimizing Constellations for Noncoherent Optical Communication Systems".

Optium is the 100th project at Chalmers Innovation (A business incubator based in Gothenburg, Sweden)

Chalmers Innovation had a press release in GP (Göteborgs-Posten) about the 100th company they plan to invest it. The name of the project is Optium and is related to short-haul fiber optical communications. The people behind the technology are Johnny Karout, Krzysztof Szczerba, and Prof. Erik Agrell.
