Guitar and vocals by Brad Brown
Brad Brown is a California native and long-standing resident of the south San Francisco Bay Area (and now a transplant to the Modesto area in California's Central Valley). Brad was born and grew up in Los Angeles CA, listening to and heavily influenced by the music of the 60s and 70s. He was very much drawn to the mainly American and British rock, blues/rock and acoustic styles emerging on FM radio in the LA area at that time, presenting an almost endless variety of fantastic, mind-blowing, original and experimental artists, songwriters and players. Relocating to the south San Francisco Bay Area in the mid-70s, where he lived for nearly 25 years, Brad concentrated on his family and education, and somewhat lost touch with his music "performing” side. But he gradually did settle back into music performance by the mid-1990s.
Brad has been performing live acoustic music regularly at local venues as a solo act for over 25 years and has played off and on with a variety of cover groups during this time. Beginning 2000, he co-founded and played with two San Francisco Bay area cover bands, the Walker-Brown Band and the FenderBenders. In addition to playing with his other primary acoustic/vocal ensemble, the 3Amigos from the late 90s through mid-2005, Brad has played with Peter Anderson of Silver Star (country/rock & blues), the Pajaro Creekdippers (country/rock), Neon Watson and the Fluorescents (original blues/rock), a folk duo with Peter Kesting/Walden 2 (banjo/guitar/vocals), and occasionally jamming with the Prairie Rose String Band (old-timey, folk, acoustic blues, Americana). A few years ago, he was also spending performance time with Bonnie and the Boys Out Back (old country/weekly senior veterans dance) and the Handful (Hawaiian/old timey performance at convalescent homes).
The music Brad performs can accommodate a number of audience profiles including private parties, special events & small clubs and coffee houses, mixing a variety of styles from acoustic jug band and old time folk to cowboy songs, acoustic blues, modern roots/alternative country and Americana. He is presently featured at a number of outdoor farmers markets and other events in the Central Valley and the Bay area. Check out his performance listing below for scheduled performance dates, locations and times. He currently has over 400 songs in his performance catalogue. Come join him for a sing-a-long soon!
Brad released a solo CD in 2003 entitled "Still Life Experience" (see below) and two follow-up CDs: "Songs from the Back Porch" (2005 -- with the 3Amigos) and a Neil Young tribute (2006) - see below for info.
**Check out BrownieJam, our classic rock duo playing at a local venue near you in the Central Valley. My son, Collin and I formed a musical partnership in 2023 featuring popular rock songs of the 60s and 70s, and then some. (Our website can be found at https://sites.google.com/view/browniejam)
