Nuclear Energy

• Micro reactors (from 30 kW to MW) for generating electricity in distributed grids (PhD)

• Use of nuclear power for space rocket propulsion and and energy supply in space missions (PhD)

• Use of Thorium in PWR nuclear power plants seeking reduction of radioactive waste generation (Master and PhD)

• Recent advances in construction technology for nuclear power plants (Master).

• Use of commercial grade products in nuclear power plantas and research reactors. How to dedicate commercial grade products for performing safety functions in power reactors (Master and PhD).

Energy Planning

• Contribution of nuclear power, operating at base load generation, to the reliability of the Brazilian hydro-thermal system of electricity generation (Master)

• Include in the EPE's 10-year energy expansion plan (PDE) a more comprehensive sustainability criteria monitored by a sustainability indicator over time (PhD and Master)

Social impacts of energy

• Quantitative forms of safety culture monitoring in the electric power sector aimed at reducing the number of fatal work accident (Master)
