Juan Miguel Morales
Hi! I'm Juan M. Morales, an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Analysis, Statistics and Operations Research, and Applied Mathematics at the University of Málaga, in Spain. I am currently the head of the research group Optimization and Analytics for Sustainable energY Systems (OASYS).
I previously held a position as an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at the Technical University of Denmark, where I also worked as a Hans Christian Ørsted postdoctoral researcher before that. Besides, I was an assistant professor in the Center for Electric Power and Energy of the same university.
My research interests fall within the fields of operations research, applied statistics and energy economics and systems, and comprise mathematical programming and techniques of optimization under uncertainty, decision making, hierarchical and inverse optimization, time series analysis, reliability, renewable energy sources, energy systems modeling, demand response, electricity markets, and smart grids.
I received my PhD in Electrical Engineering in December 2010 at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain), with the PhD thesis "Impact on System Economics and Security of a High Penetration of Wind Power," where I developed algorithms to facilitate the large-scale integration of wind power production in electric energy systems.
Previously I got my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering at the University of Málaga, Spain.
