Principles and practices of grading, drainage and construction of residential and small commercial landscapes; cost and bid estimation; soil preparation; transplanting operations; control of landscape diseases and pests; maintenance of landscape areas.
HORT 432: Horticulture Landscape Design
Application of the principles and elements of design and the design process to develop residential landscapes. Class includes several projects using existing landscapes that must be transformed into professional designs.
HORT 442: Horticulture Landscape Design II
The introduction of computer-aided drafting to produce base maps, planting plans, and construction details for residential and small-scale commercial landscape design.
HORT 481: Senior Seminar
Review of current research literature in field of horticulture presented by senior students; transition from college to work environment, including professional development and career advancement.
HORT 484: Internship
Professional internship with a landscaping company and a concurrent class that analyzes the work experience.
MGMT 309: Survey of Management
Survey of the basic responsibilities of managers, planning and decision making, organization, leading and managing people and the global, ethical, quality, and diversity issues that affect managerial decisions.
MKTG 409: Principles of Marketing
Survey of basic marketing decisions associated with product, promotion, distribution, and pricing. The focus of this class is developing marketing strategies that achieve organizational success and creating long term customer relationships.
