NN-defined Modulator
Reconstruct conventional wireless modulators with an interpretable neural network architecture. It brings flexibility and portability crossing heterogeneous platforms. Also, it enables AI-native learning capability on the device. Demonstrated through a prototype with ZigBee and WiFi communications. Demo appeared in IPSN'23, full paper appeared in NSDI'24.
WiFi as BLE Beacon
Use WiFi packets from a commercial AP to emulate an iBeacon-compatible location identifier. Can be successfully detected by by unmodified mobiles. A solution that cuts down IoT facilities costs. A two-week pilot study verified it's providing reliable localization services for 697 users with 150 types of smartphones in a city-wide food delivery scenario. Appeared in MobiCom'23.
BLE Controls ZigBee
Use BLE radio on the smartphone to control a ZigBee light bulb. Various commands are supported. It's achieved through a phase emulation. Appeared in SenSys'17.
