2019 Color Guard Meeting

2019 Color Guard Meeting – Tuesday, April 16 at 7pm in JHS Library

This meeting is for all returning color guard members AND anyone interested in finding out more about color guard.  You will have a chance to meet the new band director, Mr. Chad Gayso, and the new guard staff/designers he plans to have working with the color guard.  If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact Mr. Gayso via email or phone.

To benefit a student's account:
* Subway and McDonald's cards can be checked out in the band office.   Cards are sold for $10 each.  Sale goes through May.
* Pie - fund raising materials were given to students on April 3. Orders DUE April 15th.  Delivery week of May 6th.  (materials attached)

To benefit Jasper Band Parents and support needs for all band students (uniforms, transportation, etc.):
* Cards for a Cause (materials attached)
* 5 great boxes to choose from! All Occasion 1 & 2, Thanks & Blanks, and Kids’ Birthday Box contain 30 cards/$30 - Holiday Box contains 50 cards for $30! The band parent organization will earn $13 per box!!!!
* Collect money upon ordering - make checks payable to Anna Goins
* Please return sample card with orders - or pay $1 to keep
* Goal is 5 boxes per student 
* All orders and money DUE Friday April 12, 2019

The Jasper Band welcomes Mr. Chad Gayso as the new head band director for the 2019-2020 school year! 

An introductory letter from Mr. Gayso is also attached.

Derby Parade Information

The Pegasus parade is in Louisville on Thursday, May 2nd.  Charter buses will be used to travel to and from Louisville.  All students participating in this trip will report to the high school Thursday morning and return to the high school Thursday night.  A more detailed schedule will be available after our performance position has been set.

This trip is optional, but we hope everyone will participate in this fun day!  Cost is $25 for 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students.  Cost is $20 for Seniors.  Payment, medical forms, permission forms and a release form for each student must be returned by Wednesday, May 1st.  Mr. Keeley needs the Indemnity form returned ASAP!

Monday, April 29 7:00 - 9:00 PM (8th Grade Only)
Tuesday, April 30 7:00 - 9:00 PM (Everyone)
Wednesday, May 1 7:00 - 9:00 PM (Everyone)

We will need parent chaperones to travel with the band.  If interested, call the band office (482-2532).

Attention Jasper Band Alumni and Friends

We are looking for any alumni AND friends of Jasper Band who would be interested to come play the Holst Suite in Eb with the Symphonic Band on Sunday, April 14th at 4:00 pm in the JHS Gym.  This invitation is open to any alumni, community member, parent, etc. who would want to join in the concert.

The concert will consist of the Symphonic Band's concert pieces, a few small ensembles, and a mass band playing the Holst Suite AND the arrangement of Jupiter we play at graduation.

Please see the attached information and contact Mr. Goodhue in the band office with any questions.  

** Mr. Goodhue has announced his retirement at the end of the school year.  This will be his last official concert, so all are welcome to join or just attend the concert to help wish him well!!  A reception in the JHS Cafeteria will follow the concert.

Volunteers Needed

Attached is a document that explains about a lot of our volunteer/fundraising opportunities so you can understand what we do and when and hopefully ease some of the overwhelmed/intimidated feelings from the requests for help.   By volunteering, you get to support our awesome band students so they can do the best they can at what they do, as they work hard and represent their families, school, and community, and you get to meet new friends and have fun along the way!  If we all work together, it’s not so bad for anyone! Even if your child isn’t marching, our booster club fundraising events support the whole band program all year long.

Also attached is the committee chair roster for 2018 - 2019.  Lines in yellow designate graduating parents who will need to be replaced.
