What is a Redemption Specialist?

What is a Redemption Specialist?

In fact, every single person who is a follower of Jesus Christ is assigned by Him to be a Redemption Specialist. We are commanded to “As you go along in your life, make disciples.” Read Matthew 28:18-20

A follower of Jesus Christ is not just a believer in Him. James 2:19 tells us that even demons believe and it makes them very afraid. Believing means that you know beyond any doubt that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, King of Kings, that He is alive, and that He rewards those that seek Him. Read Hebrews 11:6. To go from believing to being a follower means that you have repented of your sins and even from your personal life choices. You have prayed and asked Jesus to forgive you, save you, and transform your inner person (your spirit) from death to life. Furthermore you choose to change your entire plan for your life from pursuing your own desires to doing and being what He commands you to be. You decide to abandon all the desires of sinful flesh (nature). Jesus called it ‘dying to the self’. Read John 12:24. In that verse He says we will bear much fruit; both personal spiritual fruit (such as love, joy and peace) and the fruit of helping someone else become a follower.

The verse in Matthew 28 uses the word ‘disciples’. Is that different from a follower? Yes. A disciple is a follower who has decided to become like Christ. We do all within our power, strength and life experience to become exactly like Jesus – almost a copy of Him. A disciple disciplines herself or himself to look, speak, act, and even sound like Jesus. Our prayer is that our thoughts and motives will become so much like Jesus that we do nothing except what He did and what He does in the world today. There is a problem with this ambition – our spirit is crippled by sin and death. Jesus said that the Father in Heaven is waiting to give us His Holy Spirit. Read Luke 11:13 and the surrounding verses. When we allow Him to, the Holy Spirit comes into our spirit and makes the change so that it is possible for us to become exactly like Christ. He then takes His place in our inner being. We allow Him to take control and to give us the “mind of Christ”. Read 1 Corinthians 2:16. To truly become all you can be as a disciple of Jesus the Savior we must received the Holy Spirit. Acts 19:2-6 contains the question, “Did you received the Holy Spirit after you believed?” It relates the testimony of some who were preaching the gospel of repentance. The Apostle led them to pray to receive the Holy Spirit. They were changed. Someone who is filled with the Holy Spirit becomes like Acts 1:8. They become powerful witnesses for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Now we return to the first question. A Redemption Specialist is someone who focuses on helping people become disciples. If the Lord is leading  you to make this commitment in your life please study the materials on this Internet page and also find a Christian spiritual advisor who can help you pray to receive the Holy Spirit and then teach you and lead you in how to make Disciples.

If God leads you, please mark this page as one of your favorites and return here to learn more. Also, if you lead someone to become a disciple, please write down and share your testimony with us and with your Church group. God will use that testimony to lead others.
