Hector

Hector is gone and here are some pictures to remember what a sweet dog he was

He had soft fur and Carol said his butterscotch ears felt like velvet. His father was Echo and his mother was Carla. Hector was born in our bathroom November 3, 2007 and after midnight, his eight siblings followed on Nov. 4th.

Carol set up this birthing box for Carla in our bathroom. When the puppies started coming, she called friends and neighbors.

Welcoming the new puppies were Ann Beamon, Jessica and Micheal, Janet, Victor and Carlena. Notice the pink feet and nose.

The new puppies gave me comfort after my prostate surgery

Connor was so excited to see all the puppies that he tried to dive into the basket with them

Scott, Marccus, Casey and Lane came to visit in December 2007

Hector enjoyed being with us as we read the morning paper

He would also keep us company while we enjoyed our morning coffee in bed

Carlena, Janet, Carol and I walked Toby, Legend, Carla, Echo and Hector on our neighborhood street

The dogs liked chasing tennis balls at the mule pen. Trick photography captures 5 images of Hector.

I am trying to manage 3 dogs on leashes for a late afternoon walk

Hector at our Regina land enjoying the cool early evening

Hector's job was retrieving the morning newspaper all by himself as Lane and I watched

This video is in slow motion. If you watch carefully, you can see Hector change his gait from a gallop to a trot as he comes closer. To see the video larger, click to watch on YouTube.

Carol would tell the story that after Hector's papa, Echo died, Hector was so sad that we loaded him in the car and drove him to see the ocean

Amazing that Hector appears oblivious to a coyote in our back yard looking in the dinning room window

We got Hector a girl friend but he didn't seem interested in what she was promoting

We got Hector a glow collar to wear for his safety when he went down the driveway before dawn to retrieve the newspaper

Hector is 11 years old and he is still retrieving the newspaper but painfully slowly

August 22, 2020 Hector lost the ability to get up. We made a bed on a cart that we could roll from the living room to the bedroom so he would always be near. We hand fed him and gave him water for 4 days but he never recovered.

Hector has joined his papa, Echo and friend Blue at Vista Point forever more. We miss them greatly!
