25th Anniversary at Santa Fe Opera 2011

This is the opening night of the opera season with a performance of Faust. We came early to set up a tailgate party to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

Carol in her usual good style had prepared a shrimp dinner with the chilled bubbly!

There was a good turn out for the opera despite smokey skies.

The Las Conchas wildfire, at over 100,000 acres, the largest in New Mexico history is burning in the Jemez mountains near Los Alamos only about 20 miles away from the opera house. All 12,000 residents of Los Alamos have been evacuated.

Meanwhile inside we are getting ready to see a performance of Faust, the story of an old man who sells his soul to the devil for a return of his youth. As you might imagine, this did not go well.

We spent another day dragging around Santa Fe. This is the view from the top of La Fonda Hotel.

Carol enjoyed the collection of copper pots in La Fonda.

We had lunch here in the French Pastry Shop then dessert at the Ecco Expresso and Gelato Shop.

Hope you enjoyed our pictures and will raise a glass with us to celebrate life while we may.
