We are focused on training individuals for new careers. Our candidates are referred for training from the Veterans Administration, NewJersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and the County One Stop Career Centers.
The JFK Laboratory Assistant Training program is a 15 week class that meets Monday thru Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The curriculum is extensive covering topics in chemistry, metric system, safety, water quality, urinalysis, microbiology, hematology, drug discovery, and package testing. Students are trained to use the pH meter, autoclave, manual pipets, centrifuge and various scales. Students learn the fundamentals of laboratory technology and can be employed in different industries such as health care, personnel care, food technology and environmental laboratories.
Internships are available at a reference lab, hospital lab and environmental lab. Laboratory tours are scheduled to various laboratories in the area.
Computer training is available for all students, learning the fundamentals of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Mock interviews are conducted twice by actual recruiters from various companies.
A counselor is on hand to assist with resume writing, job searching skills and strategies for a successful job interview.
For those students that do not have transportation, transportation from Metuchen or Dunellen train stations is provided by the program on a case by case basis.
