Kayoyo

One small frustration is that Kayoyo is not shown on Google Maps. The one specific task he mentions in the memoir is building the church there (though he had to leave before it was complete). There are a number of mentions of the place on the web, including the centenary of the church in 2007 (which would make it earlier than JES was there but they may have celebrated the formation of the church rather than the building).

Petro Kilekwa is mentioned more than once in JES' account and he was working at Kayoyo. Kilekwa wrote an autobiography called Slave Boy to Priest which is hard to get hold of but I have a copy. He mentions many people and places JES mentions, but he does not mention JES.

Henry Masauko Chipembere, a prominent nationalist was born in Kayoyo in 1930, long after JES left. Chipembere had associations with the church while he lived in Kayoyo. I do know it is near Ntchisi, it says so in JES's account as well as other sources on the web. I gather there is an orphanage attached to the church.

So, if anyone can tell me more about the church, whether the one JES began is still there etc, I would be interested to know.
